Goodyear Assurance UltraTour review

Mentioning Goodyear, one of the top tire manufacturers in the world, their logo can easily be seen in many car races. Not just that, the logo is also a familiar image on the street, for many people are in favor of using an Assurance UltraTour for their SUV.

With a set of Goodyear Assurance UltraTour, you can enjoy your smooth and comfortable ride under any weather.

Goodyear Assurance UltraTour review

One of the factors that play an important part in this tire is Goodyear’s super shock-absorbent layer of rubber which is set between tread compound and steel belts. Thanks to the design, the car tire gives a 20% less shocking ride compared to other types of tires on the market.

In addition, the tire composition features an insulating layer of rubber, which helps decrease the vibration generated when driving.

Goodyear, when making Assurance UltraTour tire tread, used an asymmetric pattern. The asymmetric tread has two kinds of tread design: the center rib is on the inner half, and the other, a tight shoulder block, is on the outer half.

While the inner half is in charge of preventing hydroplaning, the outer one gives a tight grip, which is a big advantage when cornering or driving on dry surfaces.

Also, this tire type comes with 4 different sizes, from 14 to 17 inches, that can go up to 70,000 miles. So there is no need to worry whether they fit your rim.

All in all, under any conditions, the UltraTour is a good investment owing to its driving stability and long-term durability.

Pros
  • A comfortable ride under any weather
  • Less shock and vibration
  • Best on dry surfaces
  • Long tire warranty
Cons
  • B temperature rating
  • Not an advantage on icy surfaces

Tire Drive Test

To conclude our Goodyear Assurance UltraTour reviews, it is an excellent replacement for your car due to its great controlling ability on dry surfaces along with reducing vibration during driving.

In wet conditions, UltraTour with two lateral grooves can boost wet weather traction to your car. As a result, the tires never get hydroplane or cross lanes on highways.

Furthermore, we believe that the tire would surprise you for the decreasing noise when driving. The absorbent rubber layer does its job well on moderately rough surfaces. But on extremely coarse roads, it may be a different story.

The UltraTour tire has some downsides that you should be aware of.

Although it may be a redoubtable opponent on tough and dry surfaces, its performance on winter conditions such as deep snow or icy roads may let you down a bit.

The Goodyear tire only comes with a B rating when it comes to temperature, which might not live up to your standard when you are at high speeds for a long time.

So if you want to take an adventurous ride on difficult terrain, we won’t recommend it. But on city streets with continuously turning corners or a highway, UltraTour is the way to go.

This tire is not the right choice if you are looking for reliable winter traction. You will find excellent dry traction, comfortable driving, minimal road noise and a great warranty policy.

The Assurance UltraTour is one the best tires I have ever used. It offers all you need at a reasonable price, and it comes with a 70,000 mile warranty. However, it’s not one I would recommend for snow driving.
