About Yokohama

Yokohama Tire Corporation, founded in 1917, is dedicated to tire development and design. The brand is well-known for its modern technology and qualified tire material.

Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051 Review

Now, let’s have a general Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051 review. Coming from the Yokohama tire brand, Geolandar H/T-S G051 is one of the three distinct highway tires that perfectly fit all-season trucks, SUVs, and vans.

The G051 has some outstanding features. The tire made of advanced tread compound and the symmetrical tread lines can increase the handling and even the traction on both dry or wet road conditions.

Furthermore, its cross-grooves enhance the cornering ability and dry traction while maintaining responsive handling.

On wet surfaces, the tire equipped with large circumferential grooves boosts up the traction and steering control, even in light snow-covered conditions. Its grooves enhance the driving performance in bad weather and add hydroplane counteraction.

However, the tire will still falter when it comes to this area. The brand has done a good job applying modern technologies to place the tread blocks all over the product, giving effective noise prevention. Drivers now experience a smooth ride with no noise heard.

Right in the tire, there will be two steel belts, increasing endurance to stabilize your car while moving fast. Moreover, the brand adds more tire wear so that they enhance the tread life. Its general sizes are from 15 to 18 inches, coming along with a tread guarantee for the first 60,000 miles.

Pros And Cons Of Geolandar H/T-S G051

Pros
  • Good responsive handling
  • Quiet and smooth ride
  • Good dry and wet traction
  • First 60,000 miles warranty and long tread life
Cons
  • Should have significant improvement in wet grip
  • Not very efficient traction in thick snow

Personal Opinion

To sum up the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051 tire review, it performs well on dry traction, also with the steering. We realize that the tire is low-noise and provides comfortable rides.

The brand gives out a trustable warranty policy for 60,000 miles, and the tread life is above average compared to others. We tried a ride with these tires on a highway at high speed, but the grinding noise was not that much. They deserve a big thumbs up in this aspect.

About the demerits, they are not reliable on wet roads. You may feel the rear sliding when you corner on slippery conditions at high speed.

Additionally, in thick snow, the tire may struggle to perform the grip. But still, this is a common problem for almost all-season categories, and this tire is an excellent choice for you on dry traction. It may be a little troublesome on winter driving routes.

Final Verdict

To conclude this Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051 Review, this tire stays in the lower half in the category. You can consider other models, but it is still worth experiencing with exceptional noise prevention.

Yokohama has once again made a great tire. It has lasted me over 70,000 miles in just six years. It was quiet and the tread has been well worn all the way. I hope the new set will last as well as the ones that came before it.

I debated between Michelin and Yokohama. After reading reviews, I decided to save 20% by choosing Yokohama. They didn’t travel half the distance as my Michelin’s. This was a regrettable decision. They are comfortable and quiet, but don’t offer any value for money. I only managed to drive 30K miles before I had to consider replacing them in California, where I can drive very slow and carefully. Although I had hoped for at least 60K I can only expect to get 40K if I drive like a 90-year-old grandpa. This is a terrible result considering I treat my car and tires like a newborn baby. You should consider that my Michelin’s allowed me to drive more than 100K for only 20% more. In half the time it took me to get new tires, install them, and pay taxes, I now have to do this with my current brand. These tires are not only terrible value, but they also provide a great ride.
