About Cooper Tire & Rubber

Cooper Tire & Rubber is a world-leading company in the tire-making field. With the over-century experience in producing high-quality tires, the manufacturer has never failed to satisfy their customers with durable and smooth-running tires, especially the best-seller Cooper Discoverer H/T.

Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus Reviews

In this Cooper Discoverer H/T review, we will discuss what makes this particular product stand out, its strengths and weaknesses, and why you should definitely take it into consideration. Its many features sure give it an edge on the current market.

The Discoverer HT is not just a tire that can perform well under summer’s weather but rather a standard all-season tire that can pull through virtually any type of weather.

The tread of this particular model also has some aggressive patterns, which will be sure to give you SUVs and pickup trucks a much more modern and stylish look.

In general, H/T Plus tires, or highway terrain tires, incorporate the better features seen in all-season tires with that of all-terrain tires. This makes them excellent tires since they will have good on-road manners as well as off-road grip.

However, they are not quite the most fitting for many off-roading adventures, despite all the tread blocks siping. It is mainly because of these tires’ heavy street-performance nature.

Now, let’s take a look at a brief review of this tire.

Pros
  • Outstanding on-road performance
  • Sleek modern-looking design
  • Great for aftermarket wheels
  • Really solid mileage
  • Quiet
Cons
  • Noisy as they age
  • Rather limited in sizes

Let’s now delve deeper into our experience with this tire.

Cooper Discoverer HT Plus Tires – One Month Review

Tread

Like we have mentioned, these tires have a sleek tread pattern that gives them a modern-looking appeal, very fitting for many of the latest SUVs and pickups. And, they are great for on-road travel, but they can be quite lacking when it comes to off-roading.

All-Season Tire

You can think of these tires as having the look of the ultra-high performance tires, except, it carries all the characteristics that are oftentimes associated with all-season tires. The rubber compound can be rather soft and can grip the road very aggressively.

The feature of this tire that truly stands out is a close-knit and sturdy design of the central block. It makes the whole design increase in stability for cornering or going on highways.

Moreover, to prevent hydroplaning, there are a duo of larger circumferential grooves right by the outside the tread that can deliver amazing water evacuation.

Noise

These tires are also quiet, impressively so. Cleverly incorporated into the product’s design is an optimized pitch sequence that guarantees your relaxed trips. However, we find that it is getting noisier after two years of use. Anyway, it’s acceptable.

Also, we are in love with the rim protector which is built-in. And, it can function as a minimizer of curb damages or the scuffing of the spotless wheels.

Treadwear

Another good point about this Cooper Discoverer H/T lies in the tread-life warranty. Ranging at 60,000 miles is quite ideal since minor incidents can occur.

Why Should You Make This Purchase?

After this Cooper Discoverer H/T review, we have displayed the many great features of this tire and learned about its strengths and weaknesses.

We can also clearly confirm that though there are still some downsides to this tire, the upsides of modern-looking design and long tread life far outweigh the downsides. Therefore, if you are looking to give your vehicle a modern look and intending on having long-lasting tires, definitely go for the Cooper Discoverer H/T.

I am on my second set. The first set was replaced at 80,000 miles. I could have gotten 85,000 to 90,000 miles from them, but I prefer to change my tires early. They are very comfortable, quiet, and provide good traction on wet roads. I would highly recommend them. I cannot speak for the winter traction as I live in South Louisiana so that you don’t have to worry about that rating.

2009 Chevrolet Avalanche…275/55R20 M/S have 12k miles so far. Every 5k, I rotate. Low speed/high speed. I pull a trailer 12′ long and a boat 16′ long occasionally. No problem. It is quieter than my previous Michelin. Enjoy the ride, and make sure they are properly inflated according to your load. These tires were purchased from a professional shop for several reasons. #1 Made in America by Americans! #1 Great recommendation from friends! #3 Affordable, but not too expensive! At 66 years old, I have learned that it is better to spend a little more and get something in return than to spend too much and risk losing it.

These tires are currently worth approximately 40k. Here are my pros and cons
    Pro:
Michigan: Tread is a good choice. Highways and some city roads.
    – Excellent winter and dry traction
    – Tire is well made, with no cuts or bulges or other issues
Sidewall remains nice and black, hasn’t faded

    Cons
    – The noise level of treads has increased gradually and began to increase after about 10-15k
    – Easy to hydroplane, but not great in the rain
As the tire ages, gas mileage appears to be declining

The tire cost me approximately $110, which was quite reasonable considering the price of the product.

I used Pirelli, Continental, and Michelin tires. It cost me over $220 to purchase each tire. My Touareg and Cayenne only got about 25,000 miles. The tires have served my wife well for over 10,000 miles and 1 years. They are very wear-resistant and last a long time. I have been liking their performance/quietness and longevity that I just put an identical set of these Discoverer H/T Plus’ in my Cayenne. The tires cost $150, compared to the more expensive tires that cost over $200. I also love the fact that they are made in the USA.

I am now on my third set Cooper Discoverer H/T plus tires and couldn’t be happier to replace my OEM tires on my 1500 pickup truck with Cooper’s. I have never found a better all-around tire anywhere, and the price is unbeatable. Cooper tires are American-made and I believe they perform better than Goodyear.

These tires are very quiet and have excellent handling. They are also the ideal look for trucks with 20-inch rims (most trucks these days). These tires don’t appear as sluggish or imposing as most factory-installed trucks’ tires, but they aren’t overly expensive. They offer excellent stock performance and maybe even an aggressive look to your pickup. These tires are great for everyday trucks that see road, snow, and mud. Cooper will continue to make them.
