Gladiator X Comp MT Reviews
About Brand
Gladiator is founded by American Pacific Industries, known as a US-based brand of tires.
Commercial trucks, trailer tires, and ATVs are what Gladiator excels at. Gladiator X Comp MT is the latest addition to the company. It appears in the lineup of the brand’s tire for light trucks off road.
Design
- Tread: Jagged, angled, and self-cleaning. The block is huge, whose reinforced shoulder and sidewall can make the tire significantly aggressive.
- Casing: three full plys made of polyester.
- The sidewall has body plies turning up along. The void is designed high.
- The body plies help reduce the damage caused by abrasive surfaces.
- Belts: two are made of steel, and two are made of nylon.
- M + S: rated. It means the product can smoothly deal with snow and mud conditions.
Tire Sizes
The size of the Gladiator X Comp MT tire ranges from 15 to 22 inches. All of them carry an E load rating, except for the 15 inches model. This one has a C load rating.
There are products with 26-inch sizes available for commercial trucks’ installation.
Noise, Comfort, Brake
The noise is not a problem, which can satisfy the demand of daily driving.Â
Thanks to the more rigid construction than the competitors, this tire does not absorb vibrations and bumps. Thus, the comfort is reasonable at best.
The braking distance is medium. And you can place your trust on the traction, which is estimated to be safe and well-functioned for normal driving. As long as you maintain the speed within the limitation, there will not be any serious problems.
Performance On Mud, Dry, Snow, Wet Terrain
As the name of a mud-terrain tire, the Gladiator X Comp MT is ideal for running on gravel, sand, rock, or mud. Â
Due to the lack of siping, the performance of this tire in snowy weather is not superior but still acceptable.
Unless you overdo the limitation, driving on wet or slippery roads is safe.
Pros & Cons
Personal Opinion
What We Like?
As described by the producer, the Gladiator X Comp MT can easily handle the mud and sand. However, there are differences on snow-covered roads.Â
In light conditions as the unpacked snow, the tire’s performance is terrific. Its controllable traction functions well and guarantees the truck to drive a little deeper in snow. However, it turns worse over the packed snow, as the grip levels and traction is not that impressive.
The rugged look would strongly impress you at first sight and can be retained for a certain time period.
The tread with a special design can clear out and avoid build-up effectively. Thanks to this design, the tire performs amazingly on rocks or deep mud.
What Need Improvement?
Surprisingly, the tire is quieter than other mud tires, with great durability, stability, and strength. However, the noise level is still a weak point as it gets higher on paved roads.
The performance of this product is not satisfying in dry conditions. Moreover, it is much worse than the highway or all-terrain types.
The last weak point of the X Comp MT from Gladiator is the balancing issues. It is slightly difficult for these tires to balance out. That said, it’s not a big problem for us.
If you are a fan of aggressive MT tires, the Gladiator X Comp MT is a highly recommended investing option. Particularly, this product is the most relevant to trucks, SUVs, or 4×4 vehicles. When paired with a compatible car, this tire meets the primary demands of driving on struggling terrains.
