About Kenda Tire
Kenda Klever MT KR29 is a product of Kenda Tire (also known as Kenda Rubber). The company was established in 1962 in Taiwan to produce bicycle tires. It now focuses on making tires for automobiles, bicycles, powersports, trailers, and wheelchairs throughout its development.
It was the 27th largest tire manufacturer in 2010 and now aims to make the product beyond customers’ expectations. If you need a set of tires for solid performance and enhanced safety and durability, you can always find it with this brand.
Kenda Klever MT KR29 Overview
Regarding the mud-terrain tire series, we should mention the Kenda Klever MT KR29. It’s built with the ambition to show excellent off-road performance and paved roads drivability. It’s guaranteed 60,000 miles tread for all sizes ranging from 15 to 17 inches at an affordable price.
The tire is expected to be driven through challenging off-road driving applications and highways or streets at the same time with given features.
This heavy-duty tire is suitable for off-road pickup automobiles and SUVs. Its toughness and durability are the keys to overcoming all rugged off-road terrain such as mud, sand, deep snow, etc.
Driving on these tires, drivers will experience a high traction level. The treat pattern, the most apparent feature, is built to increase traction. This feature, known as the shoulder lugs, can be self-cleaning. It means the traction can be maintained even if you drive on thick and wet mud.
Even a thick snow terrain can’t challenge these models. Sipes are added to improve the tread surface. There are double steel belts and a three-ply sidewall inside to enhance the strength and durability of the tread.
Although it’s hard for a mud-terrain tire to be driven quietly and comfortably on civilized roads, this model is expected to cope with that.
Pros & Cons
Personal Opinion
We’ve made the test drive for this Kenda Klever MT KR29. Although there are a few disadvantages, the whole features are excellent.
Traction On Wet
Driving at high speeds on wet roads is not recommended. However, this tire’s performance on slippery roads with puddles and dirt is amazing, making you want to drive as fast as you are only under light rain.
The traction remained high even when we tried it on rocky and muddy terrains. Compared to its competitive price, this model’s traction is more than expected.
Traction On Snow
The traction on snow is above average, which is not terrible. This brand’s product brings the feeling of safe driving. Roads are covered with 3-4 inches of snow, and there can be no problem with the tire, though there could be a little bit of improvement.
Traction On Dry
The tire performs nicely on dry paved roads. There is no problem with using brakes or piling speed. Through the steering wheel, we can feel the quite impressive performance of this model.
Noise
This model is made with the desire to work quietly on highways, and it almost can do that. The noise is highly compressed at low speed, which is more than expected.
It is quieter than other mud tires in this situation. You may feel a little bit of a humming sound, but it will not affect anything unless you speed up; you may hear the road noise and wheel roar.
Comfort
Since it’s designed for challenging terrains, it’s more convenient to drive the tire on rough roads than smooth ones. Its suspension performs better when you face the rough patch of the roads rather than at high speed. The model is not as comfortable as expected but not too bad.
Treadwear
The only issue that brings us to concern is the tread wear. We tried this model for a few months, and there are some signs of wear on the treads, which causes a little doubt about the 60,000 miles warranty.
According to our experience, we found that the real treadlife is about 35,000 to 40,000 miles, even though there are wear patterns on the tire. However, considering its affordable price, the issue does not really matter.
Who Should Buy This Tire?
Despite the minor drawback of the treadlife, this mud tire is highly recommended, especially for those who love to travel to different nature terrain than drive mostly on the street. However, if you drive it on paved roads, it still brings you acceptable comfort.
Compared with the price of similar products from other famous brands, this model is a solid choice for its performance and durability. We hope this Kenda Klever MT KR29 review will help you make the right decision.
